Age is just a number for Jackie Chan. At 71, the iconic martial artist and actor is once again proving that his passion for stunt work and action cinema has no expiry date. In a recent interview, Chan reaffirmed his commitment to doing his own stunts, declaring boldly: “I’ll stop the day I retire—which is never.”
Set to star in the upcoming film Karate Kid: Legends, premiering on May 30, 2025, Jackie Chan returns as Mr. Han, a character beloved by fans of the 2010 reboot. This time, he joins forces with original Karate Kid star Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso), bringing two generations of martial arts storytelling together on screen.
Muscle Memory After 60+ Years in the Game
With over six decades in the entertainment industry, Chan says he doesn’t even need to prepare physically like he used to. “It’s all in the muscle memory now,” he explained. His ability to perform complex stunts without a training montage speaks to the years of dedication he’s put into his craft—from early Hong Kong cinema to global blockbusters like Rush Hour and Police Story.
While Chan is known for his bone-crunching dedication—often performing stunts that send him straight to the hospital—he now advises younger performers against following in his risky footsteps. “Don’t do what I did,” he cautioned. “It’s too dangerous.”
