30 Years After Darr, Sunny Deol Open to Working with Shah Rukh Khan Again

Bollywood actor and politician Sunny Deol has expressed his openness to working with Shah Rukh Khan again, decades after their alleged fallout during the making of the 1993 thriller Darr. The two had reportedly not spoken to each other for over 16 years following creative disagreements related to the film.
What Caused the Rift?
In various past interviews, including an appearance on Aap Ki Adalat, Sunny Deol revealed that he was unhappy with how Shah Rukh Khan’s character—an obsessive stalker—was glorified in Darr. While Sunny played the official "hero," he felt misled about the portrayal and balance of roles. He had said, "I did not know they would glorify the villain... I believe in working with trust."
“That Was a Different Time” – Sunny Moves On
During a recent Pinkvilla Masterclass, Sunny Deol was asked which actor he would like to share screen space with in a two-hero film. Without hesitation, he mentioned Shah Rukh Khan, saying:
“I did only one film with Shah Rukh. So we can do another. It would be nice because that was a different period, and now it’s a different period, so definitely.”

He further added that the industry has changed and the control directors once had over character portrayals has shifted. "Stories are not being made the same way anymore that justify actor images, which is important,” he noted.
Public Reunion & Reconciliation
The reconciliation between the two stars became more visible when Shah Rukh Khan attended the success party of Gadar 2 in 2023, showing mutual respect and warmth after years of silence. Their public camaraderie gave rise to speculation about an upcoming collaboration.
Could a New Film Be in the Works?
While no official film has been announced, Sunny Deol’s candid comments and the recent thaw in relations have fans excited. If the right script comes along, audiences might see the return of two iconic forces in Hindi cinema—this time on the same page.
