Celebrated singer-composer Vishal Dadlani has announced his departure from the iconic singing reality show Indian Idol, marking the end of a six-season journey that began in 2018. The popular judge made the announcement via an emotional Instagram post that featured fellow judges Shreya Ghoshal and Badshah.
Vishal shared a heartfelt video montage on Instagram, highlighting memorable backstage moments and emotional goodbyes with his co-judges. The video, set to the soulful song “Time” by Christian 21, featured Shreya Ghoshal playfully making faces and Badshah visibly moved as the trio shared one last moment together on set.
The video included the overlay text: "That's all from me, folks! Six consecutive seasons, and tonight is my final show as a judge on Indian Idol. I hope the show will miss me as much as I’ll miss it."
In his post, Vishal explained the main reason for leaving: “I can't remain rooted in Mumbai for six months every year. Time to get back to creating music, performing concerts, and barely ever wearing make-up! It's #VishalAndSheykhar season!! Jai ho!”
He also expressed immense gratitude for the love received during his time on the show: “Haqq se zyada pyaar milaa hai, iss show ki vajah se. Eternally grateful to everyone involved.”
Vishal Dadlani joined the judges’ panel starting with Season 10 in 2018 and remained a constant figure through to Season 15, which just concluded with Manasi Ghosh as the winner. Known for his sharp musical insight and fun rapport with contestants, Vishal became one of the most beloved judges on the show.
Host Aditya Narayan commented on Vishal’s farewell, writing: “The end of an era. Indian Idol will never be the same without you, big brother. Grateful for all the great times together.”
Fans can expect to see more from Vishal & Shekhar, his iconic musical duo with Shekhar Ravjiani. As live concerts and new music projects take center stage for Vishal, audiences eagerly await what’s coming next in his musical journey—one that’s free from Mumbai’s studio walls and full of creativity on the road.
