Tragedy Strikes Devotees as Tree Falls During Landslide Triggered by Storm
In a heartbreaking incident on Sunday evening, March 30, 2025, a sudden landslide accompanied by strong winds caused a massive tree to fall on vehicles parked near the revered Manikaran Sahib Gurdwara in Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh. The calamity left six people dead and five others injured, sending shockwaves through the local community and pilgrims alike.
Incident Details and Rescue Efforts
The landslide, intensified by recent heavy rainfall and stormy weather, led to the uprooting of a large tree on the mountain opposite the gurdwara. The tree came crashing down on vehicles parked near the Manikaran Gurudwara parking area. Rescue teams, including police, medical staff, and revenue officers, responded swiftly to the emergency.
According to Ashwani Kumar, Additional District Magistrate of Kullu
“Six people died, and five were injured after trees were uprooted near Manikaran Gurudwara parking. The injured have been shifted to the community hospital in Jari.”
Statements from Authorities
Kullu MLA Sunder Singh Thakur confirmed that the bodies of the deceased were transported to the hospital and that immediate aid is being provided to those injured. He noted the continued presence of administrative personnel at the scene to coordinate further relief operations.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Vikas Shukla reported that medical teams were stationed on-site to provide emergency care and assist in ongoing search and rescue efforts.
