Pakistan Army Violates Ceasefire at LoC in Poonch; India Responds with Calibrated Retaliation
Date: 02-apr-2025

Jammu and Kashmir: On April 1, 2025, the Pakistan Army intruded across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district, triggering a mine blast followed by unprovoked firing on Indian posts. The violation is being regarded as a serious breach of the 2021 ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.
According to an Indian Army spokesperson, troops from the Nangi Tekri Battalion, part of the Krishna Ghati Brigade, responded in a "controlled and calibrated manner" to the Pakistani aggression. “Own troops responded effectively… Situation is under control and being closely monitored,” the official said.
Rising Star Corps Confirms Continued Operations
The Rising Star Corps issued a formal statement confirming the sequence of events, which began with a mine blast caused by the Pakistani intrusion. “On 01 Apr 25, a mine blast occurred in Krishna Ghati Sector due to Pakistan Army intrusion across LC. This was followed by unprovoked firing and ceasefire violation,” the statement read.
The Indian Army reiterated the importance of adhering to the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGsMO) understanding of 2021, urging the maintenance of peace along the LoC.
Linked Operations Ongoing in Kathua District
The LoC breach coincides with anti-terror operations in the Panjtirthi area of Kathua, where intelligence-based surveillance and ambushes were deployed by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the CRPF. Suspicious movement was detected on the night of March 31, followed by a fresh encounter on April 1.

Heightened Alert Across Border Districts
Authorities have intensified security vigilance across Jammu and Kashmir as multiple operations are underway. Civilian safety measures have been ramped up near sensitive zones, and air and ground surveillance has been reinforced.
This marks a significant development in Indo-Pak border dynamics and underlines the volatility along the LoC despite existing ceasefire agreements.
