In a tragic incident on April 8, 2025, Mark Shankar, the younger son of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan, was injured in a fire accident at his school in Singapore.

At the time of the incident, Pawan Kalyan was on an official tour of the Alluri Sitarama Raju district in Andhra Pradesh. Despite receiving the distressing news, he chose to complete his scheduled public visit to Kuridi village near Araku, fulfilling a promise he made to the locals.
He expressed his deep concern over his son's health but affirmed his commitment to public service, stating that he would fly to Singapore immediately after concluding his visit. His gesture has been widely appreciated for balancing personal responsibility with public duty.
