On March 24, 2025, Dharma Productions released the teaser of Kesari Chapter 2, starring Akshay Kumar as a firebrand lawyer fighting against the British colonial system. The film picks up after the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919 and portrays a fictionalized but emotionally charged legal battle for justice.
The teaser opens with haunting audio of people screaming and fleeing the massacre site, immediately setting the emotional tone. A glimpse of the Golden Temple and historical voiceovers remind viewers of the colonial brutality that led to the deaths of thousands.
Akshay Kumar’s character is introduced in a British courtroom, where he boldly challenges the colonial authority. When a British judge tells him, “Don’t forget you’re still a slave of the British Empire,” Akshay delivers a blunt and rebellious response, signaling the tone of the film — one of defiance, dignity, and determination.
Kesari Chapter 2 is set to release in theatres on April 18, 2025. The film also stars Ananya Panday and R. Madhavan in key roles. Akshay himself shared the teaser on Instagram, writing: “He held his head high. He beat them at their game. He told them where to go. A genocide India must know about. A revolution painted in courage.”
The film’s backdrop is the Jallianwala Bagh massacre that occurred on April 13, 1919, when British forces under General Dyer opened fire on a peaceful gathering, killing and injuring thousands. It remains one of the darkest chapters of British colonial rule in India.
The original *Kesari* (2019) depicted the Battle of Saragarhi, where 21 Sikh soldiers fought against 10,000 Afghan tribesmen. Akshay Kumar played the lead, and Parineeti Chopra appeared in a supporting role. The sequel continues the franchise’s focus on valor, patriotism, and real historical events.
