Sunny Deol Praises South Indian Cinema: "I May Settle There, They Make Films with Love"

At the trailer launch event for his upcoming action drama Jaat, Bollywood veteran Sunny Deol took a moment to share high praise for South Indian producers and their approach to cinema. The actor stated that Hindi filmmakers should learn how to "make cinema with love" from their Southern counterparts.

Sunny Deol on South vs Hindi Cinema

“You all call it Bollywood, but first refer to it as Hindi cinema,” said Sunny, urging filmmakers in Mumbai to respect the art form. “I want producers of Bombay to learn from the South. I thoroughly enjoyed working with all of them. I told them, ‘Let’s do another film.’ Maybe I shall go and settle there.”

Deol emphasized that it was the emotional investment and sincerity of South Indian producers that impressed him most. “They are so good. I’ve rarely seen such dedication,” he added during his media interaction.

What’s Holding Hindi Cinema Back?

When asked if Hindi cinema is lagging behind, Deol clarified that the shift happened when corporate culture took over. “Earlier, when a director narrated a story, the producer believed in it and committed to the project. But now, everything is commercial. In this transition, we lost the hunger and the soul of filmmaking,” he explained.
