Security across Mumbai has been heightened following a viral warning on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), which claimed that Hindu-Muslim riots, arson, and bomb blasts may take place during Eid celebrations on March 31 and April 1. The alert specifically mentioned areas such as Dongri and linked the threat to alleged "illegal Rohingya, Bangladeshi, and Pakistani infiltrators."
Multiple Law Enforcement Units Activated
The Mumbai Police, along with the Crime Branch, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and the Special Branch, are on high alert. Officials have stepped up patrolling in sensitive areas, particularly in Dongri, to prevent any untoward incidents. An official noted that while no suspicious activity has been reported yet, preventive measures are being taken seriously.
Cyber Cell Begins Investigation
The cyber crime unit has launched a technical probe to trace the origin of the post, which tagged Navi Mumbai Police and alleged infiltration-based violence. In response, Navi Mumbai Police acknowledged the post and asked the user to provide contact details for further action.
Threat Extends to Delhi as Well
According to reports, the same message was also sent to Delhi Police and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The post warned of potential riots and blasts in areas like Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid, and Jahangirpuri during Eid.
