Pakistan Troops Violate Ceasefire Along LoC, Indian Army Retaliates Strongly in Jammu & Kashmir

In a fresh escalation along the volatile Line of Control (LoC), Pakistani troops opened fire at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, April 25. The unprovoked ceasefire violation drew a swift and strong response from the Indian Army, which retaliated effectively across affected sectors.
The firing took place in the early hours of the morning, just ahead of Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi’s visit to Srinagar and Udhampur, where he is scheduled to review the security situation in the Union Territory.
Multiple Sectors Targeted
According to defense sources, the firing occurred across several forward posts along the LoC, targeting Indian Army positions and civilian areas. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported on the Indian side so far, though local residents were forced to take shelter as tensions escalated.
“Our troops responded strongly and proportionately to Pakistan’s ceasefire violations. The situation is being closely monitored,” an official said.
Rising Tensions Post-Pahalgam Attack
This latest incident follows days of rising hostilities between India and Pakistan, sparked by the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this week that left 26 dead in Jammu and Kashmir. India has blamed Pakistan-based elements for the attack and has since undertaken a series of retaliatory diplomatic and security measures, including:

Indian Army on High Alert
The Indian Army remains on high alert across the LoC. Reinforcements have been deployed in sensitive sectors, and counter-infiltration measures have been intensified. Intelligence reports also suggest heightened activity on the Pakistani side of the border, further contributing to regional unease.
Diplomatic and Strategic Implications
The LoC firing comes at a time when bilateral relations between India and Pakistan are already at a low point. India has taken a firm stand against terrorism and cross-border violations, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that those responsible for terror attacks will be “pursued to the ends of the earth.”
As the region watches closely, both militaries appear to be preparing for a protracted period of heightened alertness. The Indian government has also warned that future provocations will be met with even stronger responses—military or otherwise.
