On the evening of March 21, 2025, the Indian Premier League (IPL) Season 18 officially began with a magnificent opening ceremony at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The event brought together cricket and Bollywood, with dazzling performances and high-octane energy setting the stage for an exciting season.

Following the opening ceremony, the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced off against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the first match of IPL 2025.
RCB chased down KKR's total of 175 with ease, winning by seven wickets. It was a dominant performance led by Virat Kohli, who scored an unbeaten 59, and Phil Salt, who added a rapid 56 runs.
IPL 2025 features 10 teams and 74 matches from March 22 to May 25. Eden Gardens will also host the grand finale, adding to the venue’s legacy.
