Delhi Capitals continued their strong run in the IPL 2025 season with a commanding eight-wicket win over the Lucknow Super Giants on April 22 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Led by a calm and composed innings from KL Rahul and a fiery spell from Mukesh Kumar, Delhi closed out the chase with more than two overs to spare.
After being put in to bat, Lucknow Super Giants struggled to get going against some sharp bowling from Delhi. Despite a steady 52-run knock from Aiden Markram, the team managed only 159 for 6 in their 20 overs. Mukesh Kumar was the standout bowler, returning figures of 4 for 33, including key wickets in the middle overs that derailed LSG’s innings.
In response, Delhi Capitals came out with purpose. KL Rahul, opening the innings, played a captain’s knock and remained unbeaten on 57 from 42 balls. His calculated approach allowed Delhi to maintain a steady scoring rate throughout. He found able support in young Abishek Porel, who contributed 51 runs and ensured that there were no hiccups in the chase.
This win propels Delhi Capitals to second place on the IPL 2025 points table with 12 points, significantly boosting their playoff hopes. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants are left needing wins in their remaining games to stay in contention.
Delhi Capitals will face Rajasthan Royals in their next fixture, while LSG look to bounce back against Sunrisers Hyderabad. With the tournament entering a crucial phase, every game is now a must-win for teams jostling for a top-four spot.
