In an electrifying IPL 2025 showdown on April 7, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 12 runs at the Wankhede Stadium, marking their first victory at this venue since 2015.
Opting to bat first after losing the toss, RCB unleashed a batting masterclass, putting up a towering total of 221/5. Virat Kohli smashed 67 off 42 balls, anchoring the innings with elegant strokeplay and aggressive intent. He was ably supported by skipper Rajat Patidar, who hit a rapid 64, while Jitesh Sharma’s unbeaten 40 added finishing firepower.
Chasing 222, Mumbai Indians got off to a shaky start but found momentum through Tilak Varma’s 56 (29) and a fiery 42 from Hardik Pandya off just 15 balls. However, RCB's discipline at the death overs, especially from Krunal Pandya, turned the tide. Krunal’s final over saw two crucial wickets, sealing MI’s innings at 209/9.
With this win, RCB climbs to third on the IPL 2025 table with three wins in four games. MI, on the other hand, struggles at eighth position with just one win in five matches.
