The road to WrestleMania 41 has taken a dramatic turn with WWE’s announcement of the main event: a triple threat match featuring CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins. While the matchup has star power and deep storyline potential, it has also sparked a heated debate across the WWE Universe—especially over the omission of 2025 Royal Rumble winner Jey Uso.
After more than a decade away and years of tension with WWE, CM Punk will finally headline WrestleMania—an achievement he long considered elusive. During the emotional contract signing on SmackDown (March 28 episode), Punk became visibly emotional when Paul Heyman confirmed their match would main event WrestleMania Night 2. For Punk and his loyal fan base, this marks a long-awaited milestone.
“This is the moment I’ve been fighting for my entire career,” Punk said in a backstage interview following the announcement.
However, fans were quick to notice that Jey Uso—who won the 2025 men’s Royal Rumble—was not included in the main event. Traditionally, the winner of the Royal Rumble is promised a championship match in the WrestleMania main event. Instead, Uso has been slated to face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship earlier in the show.
This booking decision has led to criticism from fans and analysts alike:
Despite the controversy, Jey Uso took to social media and interviews to share his outlook: “I know people doubt me again—but I’m going to shock the world, just like I always do.” His match with Gunther is still expected to be one of the top bouts of the event, and Uso remains determined to make it memorable.
WWE appears to be prioritizing the long-term story arcs of CM Punk, Rollins, and Roman Reigns—all three of whom are marquee names with unfinished business. Some fans argue that this kind of storytelling offers more drama, while others feel the Royal Rumble stipulation should be upheld regardless of name value.
As WrestleMania 41 draws near, one thing is certain: WWE’s booking is once again the talk of the wrestling world, and the fans are watching closely.
WrestleMania 41 will take place on April 6–7, 2025, and will stream live on Peacock (U.S.) and WWE Network (international).
